Five Animal Qigong is the oldest known dynamic Medical Qigong System, created by HUA TAO (110-207 BC). He was one of the most famous medical Chinese doctors.
Qigong (Qi = energy, Gong = work) was created because the human body needed exertion, but without being pushed to its limits.
Movement of the limbs facilitates the absorption of nutrients of food and enables the blood in the arteries to flow freely, preventing sickness from occurring.
As you imitate the movements of the 5 Animals (Tiger, Deer, Monkey, Bear, Crane), you also seek to attain and display their spirit and behaviors. When practiced together this will create a unique and balanced flow.
